Help answer the question about Multicoating Filter
I need an Eyepeice for DSO observing in my 10" Dob.. Help please?
Hello, I have a 10" Dob telescope and im in need of some serious upgrades on my eyepieces. I've had the scope for a year now and i have bought a single thing for it. Its basically been collecting dust (with the cap on hehe) for all of spring and most of winter. Reason is my current eyepieces are so limited i cant really see much else from what iv already seen. I wont go into a list of objects but in my red/white zone light pollution its around 4 Galaxy's, 5 or so nebula, and i cant remember how many cluster but its alot the rest is hard to find mainly because of the light pollution. I want look for the objects i found again but get better views of them. My current eyepieces are ones i got from buying the scope and a 12 year old 60mm tasco refractor my dad got me when i was a kid. They are 30mm Multicoating Filter GSO wide angle (68 degree's) included with the dob 9mm GSO Plossl also included with the DOB 25mm Kellner from the refractor 12.5mm Huygen from the refractor 4mm Super Ramsden from the refractor Basically the only good eyepeices i have are the 30mm, 9mm, and sorta the 25mm. The huygens and ramsden are terrible. The Kellner is ok but the fov is small around 50 degree's and it has zero multicoating.. Just plain glass and its only 3 element. So basicly my magnifications go from 41x, 50x, 100x, 138, 312x. Mind you i dont really count the 312 and 100 cause those EP are junk. I recently bought a Zhumell Z series Planetary 6mm, supposedly its a good eyepeice for the money and at 200x i now have a better option for planets like Jupiter and stuff. My only problem tho is DSO. The 30mm isnt exactly stellar when looking for them because at 41x Zoom even alot of clusters are hard to spot.. Anyway i dont want to make this post any bigger then it is. The options im looking at right now are basicly 3 diff eyepeices. One would be the Meade 5000 Plossl 14mm 60 degree FOV would give me a good 89x mag and its only $62. The 2nd would be a Baader Hyperion 13mm or 17mm 68 degree FOV however its rather expensive at $100 and i cant spend that ATM.. The 3rd option would be a Meade 5000 SWA 20mm at $64. So basicly the 2 options im eyeing are the Meade 5k 14mm, or the Meade 5k SWA 20MM.. I havent found a cheap 16mm, since they are discontinued the only 16mm i can find are $100. The 20mm only gives me a 62x mag i dont know if that 20 extra amg will be better then the 41x i already have. The 14mm gives me basicly 90x which i think might be better when looking for DSO only issues is the FOV is small. What should i get Honestly ?
