Purchased this camera for it’s large sensor (vs. a point and shoot), portability and highly rated image quality. Thus far this camera has exceeded my expectations. I still use my Nikon DSLR, but at this point, I’m usually reaching for the GF1 as I head out the door. If you follow the photography blogs you’ll discover that many of the reviewers purchased their own cameras when they had to return their test models. This is an indication of just how great this camera really is.
Help answer the question about Kit Panasonic
Camera decision: Panasonic GF1 or Lumix L1 (older)?
So for some reference, I own a nikon d90 and 3 lenses for that. Im selling the kit lens 18-105 and a 50mm f1.4 plus an external flash to buy a new cam. My fav lens is my 35mm f1.8 (nikkor) and so that might alert you that im a prime whore and am sort of a candid sorta guy. BUt my two choices are The panasonic gf1 micro 4/3 or panasonic 4/3 Lumix L1. Now the reason im attracted to the L1 is it's cheap used price since its old, the VERY nice Leica lens that comes with Kit Panasonic it, and the analog dials and junk, and also the viewfinder. Now I'm not sure, is the sensor larger? better? i know it only has around 7 mp but im just an enthusiast. Also the gf1, I'm worried i wont get as good quality as im hoping for. Really i only care about M, Ap priority, and shutter priority modes. This would be complementary to my d90 which is just a little clunky. Im thinking the gf1 is my immediate choice for it's size. This would probably be for walking around, candid, friends, pets, family that sort of thing. But i still want good quality. I cringe when I hear the word snap shot, I am not looking for a snap shot. :) Ps. im looking for a nice wide angle lens to go with it. I know they are expensive but im wondering what a good lens for both cams and what are even compatible with the camera and what are compatible with a seperatly bought adapter. Really any professional knowledge would help tremendously. I've ruled out the ep 1 (phew) I just don't want to do any returns. Thanks and please feedback is wonderful.
