Recording videos for my diy home improvement vlog, I rip through about 10 dv tapes a week. I use these tapes in my Canon HV30 High Definition cameras and the quality is flawless. If I were using higher end cameras or shooting for television or documentaries I would probably run a side-by-side comparison test between these and more expensive HD-DV tapes, but for the work I’m doing currently the quality is great. They are inexpensive enough that I can archive the tapes rather than re-use them which provides an extra level of fail-safe when my hard drives fail and eventually they always do!
Fewer and fewer manufacturers are making tape-based cameras, so I assume these will soon go the way of the audio cassette tape, but for now, you can’t beat stocking up on 50 at a time at less than two bucks a tape!
