extraneous light out of the lens, and it
does slip onto the lens in reverse for

What macro lens to buy for Canon?
I will be buying a camera and lens for basic copy work at my job. The primary work will be photographing textiles at a macro level to as far as 4-5' away. Most subjects will be inanimate and flat and the camera (Canon XSi/450D) will be mounted on a copy stand and controlled via a PC connection and the remote live view functionality. My choices for lens have been narrowed down to the EF 50mm f/2.5 Compact Macro (which I can get cheap with a bundle Macro Usm deal), EF-S 60mm f/2.8 Macro USM, and EF 100mm f/2.8 Macro USM (which I have read might be tough to get a 3-foot wide subject in the picture from 4' away). Any suggestions/recommendations?Basically, I will be taking 2 photos of a piece fabric. The camera will be mounted on a column for these shots. The 1st shot will be of the whole piece of fabric (which could be up 31" wide). I think the highest height I could set the camera using a column will be 30-40". The second shot will be a macro shot to see the fibers and weave, etc. For the macro shot, I need to get in tight to shoot a 1x1" area of the fabric. I am not very knowledgeable when it comes to photography so 1:1 or 1:2 ratios are not important to me (should they be?)I was hoping to get a single lens that would yield good (doesn't have to be amazing) pictures for both shots I need. Does this info help in recommending 1 of the 3 lens I was interested in (or perhaps a better suggestion)? Thanks again.
