I’ve been using this converter for a couple of years now, on my sigma 100-300mm f4, 120-400mm 4.5/5.6, and recently on my new Nikon AF-S 300mm f4. Works great on all of them. Fast auto focus (maunal on the 400mm sigma) sharp as the original lens.
The only downside is on the Nikon AF-s the readout says f4 when it should say 5.6 and the data says 300mm focal length instead of 420mm.(its not designed for this lens but produces shots as sharp as the 300mm without the converter) It auto focuses accurately and light meters correctly . Considering you can pick these up for less than half the price of a nikon tc its a steal, Just make sure you get the DG model which is optimized for long telephotos.
Help answer the question about Teleconverter Pentax
Effects of a "Teleconverter" lens adapter?
After my dad passed my mom gave me his Canon FTb and a wide assortment of Canon lenses from the 1970s. They are well-travelled but he always kept them in immaculate condition and he had the camera professionally serviced every few years, so it's in great working order. Among the lenses and filters is a "2x teleconverter" Teleconverter Pentax which I assume doubles the focal length of a given lens. What are the effects of using such a teleconverter? I'm sure there's got to be some trade-off somewhere but not sure what it would be.I'm used to using a manual focus film camera, having used and abused a Pentax K1000 for the past 25 years without fail, but never had any gadgets or lenses and such like he had. Also, he had a camera that I think is called a medium format and it's from Europe and was expensive like professionals used to use, much bigger than 35mm. Should I get that one too?I just checked, it's a Hassleblad 500CM with several lenses and a bunch of accessories and gadgets. I claimed it, although I have no idea how to use it.
