This lens hood is really pretty great, although I have a few little issues with it. Firstly, I guess that I didn’t read thoroughly enough about the product, because I was anticipated a plastic hood. However, I was more happy with the rubber than I would have guessed, and it really works well. I dislike how the color of the hood is a slightly lighter black than the camera/lens is, but that shouldn’t bother too many people. The construction is very good, the ring that screws onto the lens works flawlessly and is strong. The only thing that really bugs me, is that when I use this on my 50mm f1.8 lens, I have to have the hood extended at least partially, because when it is fully collapsed it covers up the manual focus ring. The circular shape of the hood can become a bit bent out of place after my camera has been in the case for a while, but it soon regains it’s original form.
These negatives are truly minimal compared to the overall product, which really does work well and look cool, especially when looking directly into the lens. I would recommend it.
