I ordered the 72mm screw-on hood from Adorama for a Sigma 18-200 OS lens, used on a Canon EOS 30D. I ordered the Adorama model, because the Sigma was harder to find! The Adorama hood works perfectly, and holds the lens cap snugly. Image quality is better than without the hood, and I am pleased!

Help answer the question about Hood Sigma
Are the lenses used for taking pictures outside?
I'm not sure if I worded the question correctly, but I mean..During my stay in NYC a bunch of other tourists had SLRs with this outer cover part near the tip, and I wanted to know what it does exactly.Personally, I thought they were used for protecting your lens because "too much ISO (?)" will damage the lens. I'm not sure if i'm using those terms correctly, Hood Sigma excuse me.I recently got a Nikon D3000, a "friendly DSLR"I think I was the only one out of 4 people who didn't have it, making me upset, thinking my camera would be terribly damaged since it didn't have it....Beginner here. I should really learn the terms.http://www.google.com/imgres?imgurl=http://media.the-digital-picture.com/Images/Other/Sigma-Tamron-Canon-Digital-Camera-Lenses-with-Hoods.jpg&imgrefurl=http://www.the-digital-picture.com/Reviews/Canon-EF-S-17-55mm-f-2.8-IS-USM-Lens-Review.aspx&usg=__oyZPE02A6gWYxO-pXG2YnTVJXhg=&h=298&w=450&sz=34&hl=en&start=39&tbnid=77vkfNw5TFeaqM:&tbnh=128&tbnw=194&prev=/images%3Fq%3Dcamera%2Blens%2Bsunlight%26um%3D1%26hl%3Den%26biw%3D1280%26bih%3D620%26tbs%3Disch:10%2C668&um=1&itbs=1&iact=rc&dur=429&ei=hl1OTJOHHobGlQfQqrSIAw&page=3&ndsp=18&ved=1t:429,r:0,s:39&biw=1280&bih=620
