Help answer the question about Protector Hood
What am I forgetting for my saltwater tank?
I'm putting together a new saltwater tank and I feel like I'm forgetting something, but I can't figure out what. I'm going to the store in a couple of days to pick up the two things I know I forgot (protected surge protector and siphon hose) as well as the live rock once I have everything set up, but I can't shake the feeling that I'm missing something. Can anyone who has a marine tank see anything essential missing? I have:-The aquarium, light hood (and bulbs), and stand-Protein skimmer-Power Protector Hood filter-Heater-Substrate-Charcoal for filter-Fish net-Hydrometer-Salt Mix-Test strips-Powerhead-Water-Thermometer-Fish food (though I won't be needing that until my tank cycles)-Ph BufferI'm going to buy these in the next few days once the water is mixed and aged for a day:-Live rock-Protected surge protector-Siphon hoseDoes anyone see anything missing or do I just have "new tank jitters"?I got a few books and am still doing reading. Basically what those have told me is that there are several different ways to do the tank. Forum posts I've read have told me that a lot of saltwater hobbyists believe their way is the only way that works and every fish in your tank will die right away if you don't do it their way xD. Basically, what I have gathered is that you need a combination of adequate biological, mechanical, and chemical filtration, and everything I have should satisfy those. I may upgrade from a power filter to a canister filter one day if I deem it necessary. I just am asking if I am missing any bare essentials to get my tank started.
