This is a quality extension tube. I bought it with my excellent Nikon 55mm AI f3.5 macro lens for a 1:1 reproduction ratio. The image quality is unaffected (since there are no optics inside) and with the coupling your aperture setting will be forwarded to the camera.
The material is a strong metal and I’ve mounted a 80-200mm 2.8 (without lens mount – so the whole lens was pulling its weight) without any problems.
The consideration when purchasing this is that it will not work on lenses that do not have an aperture ring (DX and G lenses). This is because the tube does not forward the aperture setting from the camera to your lens.
For this price (look around in used camera stores, they can be had for very little) this is a high quality product that will turn many lenses into a macro lens.
Help answer the question about Tube Nikon
Help with Macro equipment, see description, I'll explain there?
Hi there i have a Nikon D40 and want to start doing some more macro and low aperture shots (f1.4 Tube Nikon or f1.8 minimum) Problem is i have no idea what equipment works best. I need advice on the best lens to use (which is available at a reasonable price) or possibly if magnification lens filters or extension tubes will be suitable for a quick fix for macro shots without the low aperture. Any help Much appreciated.
