This suction holder works ok on one of my kayaks, but doesn’t hold on the other. It requires a completely smooth and flat surface, which isn’t present on one of my boats. I do put a tether on it just in case, and I only paddle on smooth lakes (there are wakes from boats), so I don’t know how well it holds under more difficult conditions. One drawback is that the mount “wobbles” on the cup, so the camera is rarely steady. The result is that many photos are out of focus, but I guess this is to be expected. However, I have created a Velcro mount on a platform for my other kayak, and that holds the camera more securely and the pictures are more frequently in focus with that kind of mount.
