I bought this filter specifically for taking portraits with my SLR, and I’m quite happy with it. It gives your photos an overall soft focus look, not so much that it looks cheesy, but enough such that family photos take on a more flattering effect, with less noticeable winkles, softer shadows, etc. As with all diffusers and softeners the overall contract of your photos is reduced. Paired with the right lighting, it produces beautiful portraits and still life or abstract shots (such as floral closeups).
Hoya as a brand was recommended to me by a trustworthy friend who’s an advanced amateur photographer. It’s made in Japan with high quality glass for an affordable price. The filter feels solid in my hands, with enough of an edge that putting it on the lens and taking it off is a piece of cake. I am one satisfied user and look forward to years of use out of this filter!
Help answer the question about Soft Focus
Our 27" RCA TV has a Very soft focus and the Soft Focus type is fuzzy. Is there any way we can sharpen it up a little?
